The Government of Malawi through the National Statistical Office (NSO) has launched the training of field supervisors and enumerators in preparation for the Sixth Integrated Household Survey (IHS6). The survey is being conducted with financial support from the Government of Malawi and the World Bank through the Statistical Capacity Building Project (StatCap) and technical expertise from the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) team of the World Bank.

The IHS is a national sample survey designed to provide information on the welfare and socio-economic status of the population of Malawi. The survey collects information on several aspects including household expenditure, consumption, demographic characteristics, health and nutrition, education, childcare, labour force participation, credit and savings, household enterprises, agriculture, housing infrastructure, asset ownership, and food security. The consumption and expenditure data from the IHS6 will provide the current status of inequality and poverty in Malawi, among other indicators.

The training will run for a period of one month and will be followed by data collection for 12 months
